2011 is a wrap!

We're having a laid-back evening at home tonight, reflecting on the many ways God has blessed us in 2011.

The biggest blessing this year was our little dude!  We are so lucky!!!

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

11 months!

11 months old already!?  Check out our big man!

At 11 months old, Collin has definitely moved into toddlerhood.  Physically, mentally, and emotionally, he's a little boy more than a baby!

At this point, Collin is a professional walker.  He goes anywhere he wants to, and he loves the freedom!  He has gotten up to a standing position from the floor several times, but I think he forgets he can do that.  Instead, if he falls down he crawls over to something he can use to pull back up to standing.  He's often so busy that he doesn't want to go along with the things we have planned, and walking has definitely increased Collin's ability to get into mischief! :-)

This past month has brought an entirely new level of playing.  Collin does a great job playing creatively with his toys.  A testament to his creativity?  He survived 22 hours in his car seat for our Christmas road trip by playing with his toys!

Collin is an excellent imitator and is really starting to use things as they're intended.  He puts the phone to his ear and he points the remote at the fan just like his parents do.  He even copied Uncle Jadon's hula hooping!  He stepped inside the hoop, held it up over his shoulder, and walked around in a circle.  It's amazing to watch!

Sweet boy loves to play peekaboo and initiates the game himself.  He'll play with whatever he has - a plastic lid, the container from his blocks, or anything else. :-)  He loves to peek around the corner to see someone, and he laughed as much as we've ever heard when playing a peek game with Grandpa Jeff this weekend.

He's very chatty and his noise continues to sound more like conversation.  He says "yay!" and imitates if we say "ha - ha - ha!"  When he's angry, it sounds like "ya - ya - ya" and he has many different types of squeals to show his excitement.  Also this month Collin has learned to squeal when something isn't working as he wants, like if he can't pick up a toy because he's standing on it.

We love our sweet little guy!  It's hard to believe, but next month will be his one-year-old post.  Our baby is growing up before our eyes and we are so blessed to be his parents!

A Montana Christmas!

Collin's first Christmas was so much fun!  We started by opening a few presents at home on Wednesday night.  Collin needed a set of building blocks!

Thursday morning we headed to Montana.  It was a looooong drive, but Collin did a fabulous job keeping himself entertained during the 11 hours it took to get to Grandpa and Grandma's house.  When we stopped at gas stations, Collin got to stand up in his car seat like this:

After 11 hours of driving, Collin's day was basically over!  We had a bit of time to check out Grandpa and Grandma's house, but pretty soon it was time to get to bed so he could start the next day feeling fresh. :-)

Collin loved his Uncle Jadon!

Jadon had tons of fun toys to share with Collin!  We spent Friday hanging out at the house, playing with all kinds of toys, and giving Collin the opportunity to get comfortable.

Collin got all dressed up for Christmas Eve!  Doesn't he look handsome?!

We went to a nice candlelight service!  Collin and I spent almost the entire hour out in the lobby of the church, but it worked out just fine.

He was happy to be back at the house where there was plenty of room to roam!

Collin had time to get to know Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Susan. :-)

Not a bad pair of group shots, eh?

Collin had so much fun playing with Daddy and Uncle Jadon!!!

Christmas morning was when all the craziness happened!  This is what the scene looked like:  Collin wandering around, checking out what everyone else was doing.  He'd hold onto one item until he saw something else that caught his attention.  Then he would drop the first item to pick up the new thing, and repeat as often as necessary... :-)

Collin got to meet another set of great grandparents.  Bud and Barb came all the way from Canada for Christmas in Montana!

Jadon found the pickle on the Christmas tree.

Are they sweet or what?!

Uncle Jadon gave Collin this great flashlight!  Pushing the green button makes the tiger growl, and the light comes out of the mouth.  Collin loves it!!!

Grandpa and Grandma gave Collin this laptop, among other things.  He loves all toys that light up and make noise!  Hopefully having his own laptop will satisfy Collin's craving for electronics. :-)

We're a happy little family of three. :-)

Collin, Daddy, and Uncle Jadon even got to jump on the trampoline!

Collin wasn't sure what to think at first, but he really had fun!

This was a fairly common scene - Collin and Daddy in the kitchen sneaking some puppy chow. :-)

All the excitement wore this little guy out!  He took a couple great naps on the way home, and was a terrific traveler once again!

Christmas 2011 was one for the books!  We had a blast celebrating Collin's first Christmas. :-)

Collin learned how to raise his arms and say "Yay!"  I had a hard time catching a picture (difficulty taking pictures is becoming a trend!) because he was walking around while doing it.

As a side note, this is a pretty good shot of his first tooth.  He has two on the bottom that are slooooooowly working their way up, and one tooth on top is just about to break through.  Yay!
