Lauren Kate is 8 months old today!
Baby girl is getting so big. She loves holding onto something (a chair, coffee table, railing, etc.) so she can stand by herself. She gets up on her hands and knees, but doesn't move forward for a crawl yet. Her reach is crazy and she's a strong girl!
Lauren has a very sweet voice, and she's starting to be quite chatty. She says "mama!" She knows her name and recognizes familiar voices. She has cute social skills, either giving big smiles when people talk to her or turning away to be shy and hide her face in my shoulder. She laughs a lot!
Lauren is a funny combination of easy-going and opinionated. She goes with the flow in so many circumstances, but she isn't afraid to squawk when she doesn't like what's going on. Being a baby sister is a pretty good gig for Lauren. Her brother cracks her up multiple times every day. She likes watching him and playing with him.
Looking out the window is one of Lauren's favorite pastimes. Being outside is not. Lauren seems to be overstimulated by the breeze or sounds or something, so she doesn't smile or enjoy herself outside. Hopefully that'll change, since we plan on spending the summer enjoying the sun and fresh air! Mirrors are also one of Lauren's favorite things. Even if she's really grumpy, she'll smile and chuckle when she catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror.
Our Lauren Kate is working hard to learn new things every day, and she is a spunky and charming girl. We are so grateful for her!

While Lauren napped yesterday morning, Collin and I headed out to enjoy the sunshine and he decided to take his motorcycle for a spin.
Oh hey, cool dude!
Grandma Lee hid eggs for Collin and Abbie to find after church on Sunday.
Collin decided the money eggs should be for Abbie because he wanted the candy eggs, so he'd shake each egg he found and put it into Abbie's bowl if it sounded like money.
She didn't mind at all!
I captured a couple shots of our handsome guy outside
and then we went inside because Lauren Kate wasn't enjoying the breeze. She had fun walking around with Daddy!

Lauren likes to be swaddled, but she usually finds a way to poke her hands or arms out. She likes having something to snuggle with.
Collin is full of tricks, but his newest is a handstand. He's becoming more of a rambunctious boy lately, and he came up with this idea all on his own.
We've been doing what we can to make sure the kiddos soak up lots of fresh air every day.
Lauren's preferred activity, so far, is pulling grass.
Collin likes to pretend to drive "Veronica," Daddy's Jeep.
We also pulled out the wagon one day, and Lauren tolerated that alright.
She actually thought it was pretty funny when Collin tried to pull.
Lauren's best was sitting on a rock
staring at her silly brother.
Are they cute, or what?

It's fun to keep track of some of the most interesting things that come out of the mouth of Mister Chatty.
Our favorite phrase Collin uses right now is "my best." He has lots of bests, and pretty much uses the phrase to indicate if he really likes or doesn't like something...
"Thanks for the pistachios, Mom. Pistachios are my best."
"These jammies are my best."
"I don't like peas. They're not my best."
Mom: "Sorry I stepped on your shoe, bud."
Collin: "That's ok. Ackidents happen."
"I went potty all by myself! I just used the sleeve of my jammies to clean the pee off the toilet."
(after choosing Oreos as a treat during a trip to the grocery store with Daddy)
"Dad, Mom never lets me have oreos. You're cool Dad. You're my best!"
(as they were walking into the house)
"Mom! We got oreos!!!"
Collin: "Mommy, what's that thing you were talking about with Daddy? A bribe?"
Mom: "It's something you earn for working hard, kind of like a prize. If you do the hard job of staying in your bed all night, we'd give you a prize. That's called bribing."
Collin: "I don't want to talk about it anymore. Bribes aren't my best."
(from the backseat of the vehicle, singing along with the radio)
"You can have all this world. Just give me Jesus."
(to some girls who were driving a toy car at a friend's house)
"Hi! What can I help you with today? Is your car running ok?"
(at church, during the song that says Jesus died upon a tree)
"Jesus didn't die on a tree! It should say cross."
funny (from a 3-year-old) words: fantastic, excellent, embarrassing
funny pronunciations that are still hanging on: ackident, compuputer

CBS, the bible study we go to every Thursday, is wrapping up for the school year, and this week was the end-of-year children's program.
The program was a blast to watch, and we are so grateful for the way our time at CBS is helping plant seeds of God's word in Collin's heart!
We're so excited for spring and fresh air! It was quite cold on Wednesday, but we bundled up and braved it to play at the park for awhile.
Collin had a blast!
Lauren continues to be unimpressed by wind and cold.
Two out of three campers were happy. Not bad!
